A Quarterly Publication of Mennonite World Conference
Third Quarter 1999, Volume 14, Number 3

Book on Anabaptism Commissioned by MWC
Will Be Available in Six Languages

C. Arnold Snyder, an internationally recognized historian of Anabaptism, is the author of a new study book on the “historical core of Anabaptist-related identity.” The book, entitled From Anabaptist Seed, was commissioned by the Mennonite World Conference and published by Pandora Press, Kitchener, ON, Canada, and co-published by Herald Press, Scottdale, PA, USA.

From Anabaptist Seed The twelve sections, which deal with such topics as: “How are we saved?” “Consequences of Anabaptist ordinances,” “Truth telling” and “Pacifism,” were originally published in MWC’s quarterly periodicals Courier (English) and Correo (Spanish). Each section includes relevant scripture texts and questions for discussion. It has been especially designed for group study.

In the preface to the book, Larry Miller, MWC executive secretary, writes, “This booklet should not be received as a normative or exhaustive statement for the faith and life of contemporary Anabaptist-related churches. But it can be taken as an indispensable text of reference for all who seek a succinct and reliable articulation of the common historical core of Anabaptist identity—one element in the process of letting Anabaptist Christianity be powerfully relevant even today, both locally and globally.”

The 54-page booklet, priced at US$5.00 or Cdn$6.25, is available in English and Spanish, and Indonesian. French and German and Japanese translations are forthcoming. For copies in English or Spanish, send your orders to Pandora Press, 51 Pandora Ave. N., Kitchener, ON, N2H 3C1, Canada
