Prayer Requests from French-Speaking Sisters and Brothers
From the Congo (CMC): "A house which we received as a gift was confiscated by the government with no compensation since May 1997. Rental from this house was a major source of income for leadership training in our church. The government has until now refused to return the house, and our training program has been blocked for these years. Pray that God's spirit will intervene." From The Congo (Bureau national des femmes mennonites/National Mennonite Women's Organization): "Women are working at concrete ways to stimulate the economy in order to provide for their families and for their own self-determination. Pray for unity among the women from the different churches."
From France: "Pray for finding new members for the Executive Committee of the French Mennonite Church. There will be a large changeover in fall 2001. Pray for emerging congregations and those that are very small, that they will all feel the support of the national church. Pray for churches who have distanced themselves from the national church. From Quebec (Eglise Mennonite au Quebéc/Mennonite Church): "Pray for relationships between the various Mennonite churches, as well as for relationships between Mennonites, Catholics, and Pentecostals in the area who regularly meet to pray together." From Quebec (Frères Mennonites du Quebéc/Mennonite Brethren): "The churches are working to build relationships with various ethnic groups, especially in urban settings. Pray for the integration of these different groups into the church." From Switzerland: "Fourteen local congregations make up the Swiss Mennonite Church. Some operate in French; some in German. That can be problematic in practical work and relationships within the national church. Pray for understanding and patience for each other."
From the Congo (CEFMC): "Pray for Charlie Lukala, the first woman ordained by the CEFMC, and for missionaries that the church has sent to Angola and South Africa. Pray also for the work of women and youth in the church. From the Congo (CEM): "Pray for unity in the church. Many people are coming to the church from many backgrounds. We need leadership training, and the ability to maintain unity in doctrine and theology with all our different backgrounds." From Belgium: "Pray for the relationship between the Mennonite congregations and the Brussels Mennonite Center. The Center works in mediation and maintains ongoing relationships beyond Mennonite circles. It was started as a missionary project over 20 years ago."
