World Assembly: Africa 2003 |
NEWS RELEASE Mennonite World Conference (MWC) October 9, 2002 A Bridge to Zimbabwe The German Mennonites have a bi-monthly magazine that is called Brücke, which means "Bridge." Several years ago there were two main Mennonite conferences, each with it's own publication. Then the two conferences united, with the new magazine Brücke acting as a bridge between the two groups. Now the magazine is also trying to build bridges for people from poor countries who want to go to the next Mennonite World Conference assembly in Zimbabwe. The paper put out a flyer to get more subscribers and promises to use 10 percent of the subscription money for this year and next as a gift to the MWC Travel Fund. The attractive flyer has the portraits of several people, among them Stefan van Delden, a member of the MWC Executive Committee. The Travel Fund has only one objective: to make it possible for people from poor countries to be present at MWC meetings. David Neufeld, currently the chief editor of Brücke, will be succeeded by Robert Wiens in January 2003.
