Caption for HIV/AIDS Quilt Photo

Hundreds of Mennonite World Conference participants, many of them Zimbabwean women, were bent over fabric during breaks and while listening to speakers at Assembly 14. They stitched together more than 200 squares of brilliantly colored African fabrics with hand-sewn signatures from around the world. The resulting quilt, conceived and directed by Pauline Aguilar of California, represents a commitment to the struggle against HIV/AIDS. Donated to the Zimbabwean Brethren in Christ Church, the quilt will travel in Africa with a message: BIC and Mennonite churches unite to bring resources and prayer to the fight against HIV/AIDS in Africa.
